Samsung has today launched its Series 6 LCD TV, a new range which features a red hue embedded in its piano black finish and offers 100Hz, 1080p resolution, as well as a 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio.

Dubbed Crystal Design, the television’s unique motif owes its inspiration to the beauty and art of glass blowing. This is achieved via a technique that is unique to Samsung and employs a dual injection technology that was first used in premium car manufacturing in Germany.  The dual injection sees a coloured resin injected then a secondary transparent layer of resin injected over this resulting in the TV bezel (frame) having layers of resin with the colour embedded in the TV surround.

Samsung’s Senior Product Manager for AV Marketing, Evan Manolis said, “Samsung is the number 1 selling LCD TV Brand for 2007, and further strengthening this dominance, the 650 offers a quantum leap in design which literally looks as good on, as it does off. The exciting thing is that this TV blends the ultimate in design with the latest in technology to deliver a truly unique package that will redefine the television market.”

The Samsung 650 features Full HD 1080p, 100Hz technology, 1,000,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio, a FilterBright technology that ensures clear images in a variety of lighting conditions by absorbing external light and minimising reflection, and DNIe+ (Digital Natural Image engine+) which optimises the display of motion, colour, contrast and detail to produce clear, vivid images with true to life natural beauty.

Samsung’s Wiselink USB connection allows users to listen to MP3s and display photos from their digital camera, integrating even further with Samsung’s broad portfolio of Audio Visual products.  The 650 also incorporates Samsung’s Anynet+ technology to ensure seamless integration of all Samsung AV products such as DVD players and home theatres so all units are controlled by a single remote control.

RRP for the Samsung 650 are as follows:

32-inch: $1999
40-inch: $3,099
46-inch: $3,849
52-inch: $4,999
