Samsung are forging the future of smart homes with the SmartThings Station, an innovative hub that will offer easy-to-use control of multiple connected devices, and the many to come, as well as a fast charging pad, as if it wasn’t useful enough already.
With the smart homes market growing exponentially, switched-on users are always looking for simple but dependable ways to connect their various devices – that’s where the SmartThings Station will come into play.
This ingenious device offers all that and more – easy set-up plus compatibility with the growing number of products available.
SmartThings allows users to automate different aspects of their home environment, so they can set routines to make day-to-day life easier and reduce energy waste by, say, switching off lights and appliances without any fuss.
“Having a smarter home shouldn’t be complicated or expensive, so we wanted to create SmartThings Station as a simple, reliable and expandable smart home hub,” explains Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics.
“The number of devices in a connected home continues to grow. We’re proud to play a role in making it easier to embrace this exciting technology.”
SmartThings brings all the benefits with minimal fuss. When you power it up for the first time, pop-up messages will appear on a user’s Samsung Galaxy smartphone to guide through the connection process smoothly.
Users can also choose to onboard devices by simply scanning a QR code with a smartphone camera.
The hub will then intuitively adapt to your daily routine, helping things like thermostats, lighting and power outlets seamlessly connect with other devices connected to the smart home server to work in unison to harmonise your environment.
SmartThings makes it a snap to automate pre-set routines created via the app, without users having to control individual devices manually.
Just press the Smart Button on the SmartThings Station to activate a routine you’ve created on the app. Like, at bedtime, a quick tap could turn off the lights, close the blinds and lower the temperature.
Or if you’re preparing to watch a film, the TV could be turned on and the lights dimmed.
Leaving the house? SmartThings could turn off power outlets and unused appliances to save energy, as well as activate your security system.
You can trigger up to three routines at a time with the Smart Button – short press, long press or double press activations.
You can also do all this whether you’re at home or away.
The Station is also integrated with Samsung’s SmartThings Find, a fast-growing asset tracking service that helps to find misplaced devices – and haven’t we all been there.
Just double press the Smart Button and your phone will ring. Indeed, SmartThings Station helps Samsung Galaxy users keep track of registered devices – tablets, watches, earbuds, or personal items like keys or a wallet that have a Galaxy SmartTag or SmartTag+ device attached.
The SmartThings Station also packs a punch as a wireless charging pad, supporting up to 15W wireless charging.
