Sony Mobile have announced the Australian pricing and availability of the Xperia XA1, originally announced at this year’s MWC.
But unlike the smaller ‘non-Ultra’ Xperia XA1, which is being sold through JB Hi-Fi and the Sony Mobile online store, the Xperia XA1 Ultra will be available exclusively from Australia’s third largest mobile service provider, Vodafone.
“We’re excited to introduce the new Xperia XA1 Ultra in the Australian market, particularly its impressive 16MP front camera and 23mm wide-angle lens to help users capture the perfect spontaneous selfie, or indeed groupie,” said John Featherstone, Manager Director of Sony Mobile Communications, Oceania.
Other features include a borderless design with a 1080p 6-inch screen, bigger than the 720p 5-inch screen of the Xperia XA1, as well as an improved front-facing camera and bigger battery. The two phones otherwise share a number of features, including the same MediaTek helio P20 octa-core processor.
Vodafone will offer the Xperia XA1 Ultra online and instore for $5 per month on a $40 per month plan ($45 total, $1080 over 24 months) including 2GB of data.
“As the exclusive carrier partner for Xperia XA1 Ultra, we’re excited to offer the latest device from Sony Mobile, giving our customers a brilliant camera and a big screen at a great price,” said Vodafone Australia Consumer Business Unit Director Ben McIntosh.
