UPDATED: Uniross has formed a partnership with heavyweight digital imaging distributor, Maxwell Optical Industries. Uniross claims it’s the number one battery company in Europe and now its rechargeable products are locally available.
The latest NiMH batteries suffer from none of the ‘memory effect’ that plagued Ni-Cd technology batteries. With cells typically being rechargeable up to 1000 times, the investment in rechargeable NiMH batteries is quickly repaid and provides obvious environmental benefits.
The Uniross product range encompasses standard sizes, from AAA through to D cells, and also 9 volt. A wide range of battery chargers complements the range. It also has an extensive range of rechargeable batteries for digital still and video cameras, and provides batteries for cordless telephones.
The range is very well priced, with a universal four-bay charger four 2500 mAh AAs priced at $30. A Family Pack, including a four-bay AA sized charger, four 700 mAh AAAs a 12 volt cord and some cell converter (AAs into Ds, for example) costs $100. A pair of high-capacity (2500 mAh) AA cells is $16.
The products are manufactured in South Africa and China to exacting standards and are tested prior to release, ensuring you don’t discover any ‘dud’ (or, worse, exploding) cells.
