Klipsch and ZON have part ways, a move that could have an impact on Audioworks who are the local distributor of the Zon product.
Two years ago, Oxmoor, developer of the ZON digital audio distribution system, entered into an exclusive global distribution agreement with Klipsch Audio Technologies.
Oxmoor would create products, and Klipsch would sell the gear through its extensive network of dealers and other channel partners. Today, the two companies announced an end to that two-year agreement, with Oxmoor citing in a press release the “opportunity to develop additional domestic and international relationships to further broaden the product line.”
Oxmoor CEO Lynn McCroskey said the two companies parted ways amicably and the relationship was beneficial to ZON while it lasted. “They got us introductions to people we might not have met otherwise,” says McCroskey. He explains that ZON will continue to do business with any dealers it picked up through Klipsch. In addition, it will add new dealers and distribution partners, especially as it rolls out the new affordable ZAS-430 meant for the mass market.
“We have decided to broaden distribution,” says McCroskey, who adds that Oxmoor will announce distributors for select product lines in the near future. The company will maintain a strong dealer-direct program as well. Oxmoor’s line of ZON audio products was one of the first all-digital solutions to hit the market back in 2001.
