Manchester’s Everything Everything became the first band to stream a live gig on Apple’s iPad, with their concert at London’s Union Chapel in the UK.The iPad has now revolutionised the experience of live music with fans being able to see and hear live events from whereever they are, via the iPad or iPhone by downloading a special app.
Everything Everything broadcast their show direct from the iconic London venue on Wednesday. App users who missed the performance will also be able to see an edited version of the performance.
While web broadcasting is not new, the iPad’s 9.7 inch high resolution screen is making it a popular device for consuming music on the go. LoveLive, the video production company who filmed the band and used an outside broadcast truck to stream the event said live app gigs will become more popular, providing a new revenue stream for record labels.
The NME reported that the concert was sold out and singer Jonathan Higgs said they wanted to do something special for fans who could not get tickets to the venue. The bonus for fans was that they were able to see and hear the concert from whereever they were, using their iPads or iPhones via the special free app called Man Alive, Everything Everything.
Everything Everything shot to fame this year after appearing on the BBC’s annual Sound Of shortlist last year.
