US tech giant, Apple has issued a voluntary recall for older models of 15-inch MacBook Pros which contain a battery that may overheat and pose a fire risk.
Apple has promised to replace affected batteries free of charge.
The affected models include the Retina 15-inch, mid-2015 MacBook Pro primarily sold between September 2015 and February 2017 and can be identified by the product serial number.
Apple claims that the issue does not affect any other 15-inch MacBook Pro units or any other Mac notebooks.
To determine if your device is affected, select “About This Mac” in the Apple menu on the upper-left corner of the device’s screen.
If the model is “MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, mid-2015)” it is potentially carrying an impaired battery.
Affected customers are urged to visit apple.com/support/15-inch-macbook-pro-battery-recall for details on product eligibility and how to have a battery replaced, free of charge.
