BlackBerry maker Research In Motion has launched a new version of the BlackBerry Pearl smartphone for the Optus network.
The Pearl 8120 will be available from Optus from the first week of December, carrying an RRP of $659.
“BlackBerry Smartphones are well received in Australia and we are pleased to be working with Optus to introduce another RIM innovation,” said RIM President of Asia Pacific, Norm Lo. “The new BlackBerry Pearl 8120, with its elegant design, advanced multimedia features and Wi-Fi capabilities, is perfect for both personal and professional use.”
In addition to Wi-Fi functionality, the new handset features a 2 megapixel camera with video capture and an externally accessible memory slot. The media player now allows users to create and edit playlists right on the handset, or manage the files from a PC via the included BlackBerry software.
