Canon Australia’s Brand Manager for Digital Still Cameras, Kimberley Langton said, “By introducing super zoom models and the ability to capture HD movies we aim to encourage digital compact camera users to broaden their scope of photography. The SX10 IS and SX1 IS make perfect travelling companions, developed to capture razor-sharp detail even at 20x zoom, while offering the versatility of a compact, portable body.”
The company claims that the new Digic 4 processor provides fast processing, has improved Face Detection, Motion Detection technologies, and a Servo AF and Intelligent Contrast Correction. A new movie function also allows longer movie recording using less memory.
SX1 IS:
The PowerShot SX1 IS features a CMOS sensor as seen in Canon’s EOS models, allowing faster capture and processing to help users shoot higher quality images at fast speeds. And with the CMOS sensor and new DiG!C 4 image processor, Full HD movies (1920×1080) are now possible. High quality stereo sound, 16:9 aspect ratio and HDMI output allows users to share their high definition images and videos with friends and family.
SX10 IS and SX1 IS – Telephoto Zoom and Wide Angle Lens:
Both models feature super telephoto photography with a 20x Wide Optical Zoom Lens. The power of telephoto photography in a compact body is perfect for those capturing their photo travel diary or for sports enthusiasts who want to get closer to the action. Coupled with a high precision Optical Image Stabilizer, users can capture steady shots even at super high zoom.
Photographers can challenge their creativity with 24 different shooting modes, from manual shooting to special scene modes that can be selected according to the scene. Further encouraging a user’s creativity, both new digital cameras feature a vari-angle LCD that makes shooting at difficult angles easy.
An AF Continuous Shooting function is also included and enables fast focus during continuous shooting, so every shot is crisp and clear. These bold cameras are reminiscent of a digital SLR camera except housed in a more compact body.
Availability and Pricing
The PowerShot SX10 IS will be available from November and PowerShot SX1 IS will be available from December 2008, with RRPs to be announced at a later date.
