Dell has announced a slew of updates across multiple lines of its laptops and desktops at COMPUTEX 2019, with an emphasis on gaming and AI performance.
The US company are targeting the increasingly crowded PC gaming market with new updates to its Alienware and G-Series computers.
Alienware’s m15 and m17 laptops are due to arrive down under in July (pricing TBC) and have been redesigned to be thinner and cooler than ever, with a new thermal cooler improving airflow by 20 per cent over previous models.
Gamers can choose between two OLED displays offering 144Hz and 240Hz refresh rates for smoother gaming.
Entry-level and budget conscious PC gamers have been offered a redesigned Dell G3 15 with a 144Hz display, starting at A$1599 (release date TBC).
The new models feature 9th-gen Intel processors that can run as fast as 5.0GHz, and Nvidia GTX-16 and RTX-20 graphics.
Dell also announced to new wired Alienware headsets are on the way in 7.1 and stereo configurations, but didn’t provide pricing or release dates.
Aside from gaming, Dell also announced upgrades to its computers targeted at creative, consumer and professional customers.
Dell’s powerful mobile and desktop workstations have been updated with new processors and graphics, and included software that optimises them based on the task at hand.
Dell claims the new enterprise targeted devices will help increase productivity through AI support and integration.
The Precision 7540 15-inch laptop is Dell’s smallest device capable of VR and AI, and supports up to 128GB memory.
The new mobile, tower and rack workstations will be available from Dell starting next month for the Precision 3431 Tower and throughout July for other devices.
A 2-in-1 design XPS 13 expected to arrive in August (pricing TBC) features a new 16:10 InfinityEdge display available in FHD+ and UHD+, and Dell has added fans back in to increase cooling performance over the previous fanless design.
Dell claims its re-engineered thermal design will keep the device cool while also being 8 per cent thinner than the previous generation 2-in-1.
Dell’s flagship model, the bigger XPS 15 (available late next month starting at A$2199), now offers an OLED 4K display for improved contrast and wider colour range, WiFi 6 and up to 64GB RAM and 2TB solid state storage.
Dell claims the XPS 15 has the longest battery life of any 15-inch laptop available.
Several updates to the Inspiron line of consumer devices have also been announced, including a 13-inch model with a Micro SIM card slot for mobile broadband, three 2-in-1 devices ranging from 11-inch to 15-inch, and two redesigned all-in-one desktop computers.
Pricing and availability varies across models and is still to be confirmed.
The small-business targeted Vostro line has been updated with a thinner 13-inch model and a performance oriented 15-inch.
