The on off again saga of home automation company Colorado vNet, is back on again, after Russound CEO Charlie Porritt said that the company is back in business, this time “forever”. However it is not known who will end up distributing the product in Australia. As part of the relaunch, the automation company has produced a new iPad app and is set to release several new products.
In a letter to dealers, Russound CEO Charlie Porritt said it was business as normal moving forward with new product and some exciting developments in the works.”
Russound acquired vNet in 2009 after founder Bill Beierwaltes pulled the plug on the business due to cash flow problems. Then Russound pulled the plug on the business only to again resurrect the company this time “for good”.
A key driver in bringing the company back was the response of dealers, said Porritt.
After Russound announced last year that vNet would cease selling products and just focus on R&D, “we got an overwhelming response from our dealer base asking us to continue selling and developing on the Colorado vNet platform,” says Porritt.
In Australia SmartHome Distribution who originally had the distribution rights to the Colarado VNet product range was not returning calls, with their main switchboard number coming up as being discontinued.
