
Philips’ brand new 24” LCD monitor with SmoothTouch technology – the 242B9T – is now available on Amazon for $276.
The launch on Amazon follows the recent trend of brands pursuing a direct to consumer model, as opposed to going through the traditional retail route.
Announced by Philips’ brand licence partner EPI, the new interactive monitor is especially designed for commercial uses, including retail, shops, restaurants and classrooms.
The anti-glare touch screen monitor uses projected capacitive 10-point touch technology for natural, fluid touch responsiveness, and is equipped with a sturdy design and IP54-class protection (splash- and dust-resistant).
It also comes with the Philips SmartStand, which has adjustable angles for easy positioning – the ‘Z-type’ design allows users to tilt the screen, adjust the height and fold the monitor with ease.
The 242B9T features enhanced Full HD 1920×1080 resolution, plus is packed with Philips’ technologies, including SmartContrast, LowBlue Mode and Flicker-free technology.
Philips SmartContrast technology analyses the content display and automatically adjusts colours and backlight intensity to enhance digital images and videos.
Users can select Economy mode which adjusts the contrast and backlight for everyday office applications and lower power consumption.
Philips LowBlue Mode is a setting that uses smart software technology to reduce harmful shortwave blue light that can affect vision over time, while the Flicker-free technology regulates brightness on LED-backlit screen to reduce flicker for a more comfortable viewing experience.
The new HDMI-ready display also comes with a diverse assortment of ports including a VGA input, DVI-D, DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 1.2 and USB 3.1.
