Networking equipment giant, D-Link, has taken on Arlo with the release of its new Full HD Outdoor Wi-Fi Camera (A$279.95), featuring Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant support.
The DCS-8600LH security cam is compatible with the updated mydlink app, offering cloud recording and two-way radio (via in-built speaker and microphone).
The product further expands D-Link’s security cam portfolio, and claims to be specifically made for the modern smart home.
“D-Link customers are increasingly using smart home devices via voice control,” asserts D-Link ANZ MD, Graeme Reardon.
“As we continue to innovate, our products’ compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant are a priority for D-Link.”
The security cam boasts a wide-angle lens that claims to easily capture an entire room or backyard – in 1080p.
Users are able to check into the system 24/7 via the mydlink app.
Vision is complemented by built-in infrared LEDs, which provide up to 7m of night time viewing, coupled with motion and sound detection notifications sent to the app.
Discrete installation claims to be easier with rotatable heads, even on ceilings. The security camera’s wireless connectivity pledges to keep cabling to a minimum, complemented by IP65 rating for outdoor durability.
Users can automatically record snapshots and video clips to a microSD card or with a mydlink cloud recording subscription – a complementary 12 month Premium subscription worth $49.99 is included to your cloud account.
The functionality allows users to play back recordings from the cloud, or download video clips to a mobile device from anywhere via the internet.
The app facilitates real-time live remote viewings, in addition to setting customised and automated recording schedules.
