A shootout between some of the latest model phones Vs the new 4g HTC Velocity has thrown up some interesting results. At the recent Telstra launch of the new HTC 4G Velocity, Telstra executives said that the new phone was configured to operate on the 3G dual channel with HSPA+ connectivity.
So we decided to test several phones including the Apple iPhone 4S, the Galaxy Nexus from Samsung, the HTC Sensation with Beats Audio technology and the Samsung Galaxy S2, as well as the new HTC 4G Velocity.
The test took place on a Saturday afternoon in Mosman NSW which is when Telstra claims less people are using their network compared to a normal work day.
When it came to outright download speeds the winner was the HTC 4G Velocity that achieved download speeds of 13605kbps. The second fastest 3G phone was the Motorola Razr which achieved download speeds of 6387kbps; this was followed by the Samsung Google Nexus with a download speed of 4780kbps.

We also tested on the Internode Sydney servers where we got similar results.
