FUJIFILM has launched its new ‘X-H1’, claimed to appeal to professional videographers and photographers alike, whilst delivering the “highest performance” of any of its X series mirrorless cameras.
Exclusively bundled with a ‘Vertical Power Boost Grip’, the FUJIFILM X-H1 is scheduled to land in Australia in early March 2018 for RRP A$3,399.
FUJIFILM Australia National Product and Marketing Manager Electronic Imaging, Alex Zitser, affirms the new X-H1 has raised the bar for FUJIFILM cameras:
“It provides exceptional features that meet the needs of both professional photographers and videographers.
“The X-H1 has once again raised the bar for FUJIFILM cameras by combining the capabilities of still photography with cinematic video quality to produce outstanding image production”.
The X-H1 claims to be the first X series camera to feature 5-axis 5.5 stops in-body image stabilisation (IBIS), plus the new ETERNA Film Simulation.
Full product specifications are available on FUJIFILM’s website here.
The product incorporates three axial accelerometers, three axial Gyro sensors, and a specially developed dual-processor, achieving ~10,000 calculations/per second.
Using APS-C size X-Trans™ CMOS III3 sensor [24.30 million pixels, without low-pass filter], plus a high-speed image processing engine ‘X-Processor Pro’, the camera claims to capture “unrivaled” images, and record the finest details.
A flicker reduction mode further enhances the quality of indoor action photography, especially useful when capturing sports.
FUJIFILM’s new X-H1 is also compatible with several interchangable lenses, scheduled for release this year:
1. MKX18-55mmT2.9 and MKX50-135mmT2.9 professional cinema lenses which incorporate the X mount (June 2018 release).
2. XF200mmF2 R LM OIS WR, a wide aperture single-focus telephoto lens (late 2018 release).
3. XF8-16mmF2.8 R WR, designed to meet the needs of scenery or landscape photographers (late 2018 release)
Recognising the needs of videographers, the X-H1 supports DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) and Rec.2020 color gamut (bitrate of 200Mbps). It also offers slow-motion 1080p recording at 120fps.
The X-H1 features a “robust” and durable body – enhanced with dust and water resistance.
The camera claims to operate in -10C weather, and has a “high-quality” scratch resistant coating.
The X-H1 also incorporates a headphone jack for microphone input, and an improved built-in mic.
FUJIFILM has also debuted a new film simulation mode (‘Eterna’), said to maximize flexibility during post-production, thereby ideal for shooting movies.
Additional accessories include a Wide Eye Cup, which reduces light interference and enhances concentration during long shoots.
