High-resolution marketing images of the GoPro Hero 8 Black and GoPro Max have been leaked online, providing more information regarding the new cameras, as well as details of modular accessories to go along with them.
According to the leak, the Hero 8 Black will feature an improved 12MP sensor capable of recording in up to 4K at 60fps or 240fps in 1080p.
The Hero 8 Black will support RAW, TimeWarp and a special night mode, and will also have the ability to livestream on YouTube and other platforms too. It is able to shoot in H.264/AVC and H.265/HVEC.
Quandt claims that the Hero 8 Black will measure 63x45x33mm and weigh 116g, with its 1,220mAh battery charging in around 90 minutes over USB Type-C.
The Hero 8 Black will also support several new accessories, which can be attached in two ways – firstly, GoPro has redesigned an external chassis onto which detachable accessories can be added.
The chassis incorporates a microphone, along with two accessory mounts, which will support at least a GoPro Light Mod and a second display.
Secondly, GoPro has integrated two fold-out mounts (called Floating Fingers) on the bottom of the Hero 8 Black, which will support tripods and selfie sticks.
By contrast, the GoPro Max does not appear to support detachable accessories, although it does incorporate the same Floating Fingers as the Hero Black 8.
According to Quandt, the 360-degree camera can record in up to 4K at 60fps or “2.7 K” at 120fps, although other features and technical data have yet to be officially confirmed.
GoPro is expected to officially announce both the Hero 8 Black and the Max before the end of this month.
