Vloggers rejoice as GoPro launches the Media Mod accessory kit giving Hero8 users a directional microphone, a headphone jack, HDMI-out and dual cold-shoe mounts in one attachment.
Currently available for pre-order online, the Media Mod kit for the GoPro Hero8 will set you back $129.95.
The kit is a wraparound design that plugs into the USB-C port under the battery cover.
Unfortunately, this also prevents users from easily accessing the memory card, which was a major selling point of the new GoPro Hero8.
The design features two cold-shoe mounts for lights and external microphones, as well as inputs for a display via the HDMI-out.
Users have the choice between recording front or rear audio as the in-built directional microphones are actually two mics in a cardioid array, as well as recording from the Hero8’s inbuilt microphone.
It should be noted however that the Media Mod kit is not waterproof making it suitable for dry situations only, though its not clear how tough the accessory is either.
