Hisense has introduced the 27GX, a new 27-inch Mini LED smart monitor targeted at gaming and multimedia use. The monitor is now on sale in China at a price of 4399 yuan (equivalent to approximately $950 AUD).
The 27GX features a Fast IPS panel combined with a Mini LED back-light system that includes 2304 local dimming zones. The screen supports a peak brightness of 2000 nits and complies with HDR1400 standards. Hisense has applied its proprietary Obsidian Screen layer and a dual layer nano-grade low-reflection coating that reduces surface reflectivity to 1.8 per cent. The company states this results in black level performance that is improved by 33 per cent.
The monitor supports two refresh-rate settings. It can operate at 4K resolution with a 160 Hz refresh rate or switch to 1080p resolution with a 320 Hz refresh rate. The panel provides 10-bit colour (8 + FRC) and offers coverage of 99 per cent of sRGB, 98 per cent of DCI-P3 and 100 per cent of Adobe RGB colour spaces. Hisense calibrates each unit to a Delta E accuracy of under 1.
Inside the monitor is the same MediaTek 9655 processor used in Hisense’s flagship smart TVs. This processor is paired with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of built-in storage. The monitor supports several AI-powered image enhancement features including AI Super Resolution, AI PQ tuning and dynamic black frame insertion. It also includes MEMC motion compensation and 16-bit DC dimming to avoid flicker.
The 27GX runs a built-in smart TV operating system. It supports voice control and offers four viewing modes: Standard, Kids, Senior and Education. Hisense bundles dual 5 W speakers tuned by its Golden Ear team; these support Dolby Atmos. The display also supports Dolby Vision IQ.
In terms of design, the 27GX comes in a Glacier White finish and includes an adjustable stand that permits tilt, pivot, swivel and height adjustments. It is compatible with a 75 × 75 mm VESA mount and ships with a GaN power adapter.
For connectivity, the monitor includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4, a USB-C port with 90 W charging, two USB-A ports, a USB-B upstream port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack. It also supports KVM switching, allowing seamless control of multiple devices.
