HTC Hero customers who purchased their handsets initially via a Harvey Norman store will most likely be upgraded to Android 2.1 on April 16th, according to an e-mail syndicated by HTC.
Smarthouse has been able to confirm that HTC customers in South Africa, Norway, Greece, Russia and the Ukraine will be upgraded on the 16th of April, however, we are still trying to confirm whether Australian customer’s phones will be upgraded on that day.
The release is part of a wider plan of HTC upgrading every Android handset with the latest version 2.1 of the operating system. The update will bring HTC’s Sense UI, overall faster performance and a number of tweaks that include improved home screen navigation, live wallpapers, voice typing and a 3D photo gallery, among others.
