The advent of 3D and Internet-enabled TVs along with new IP enabled technology has allowed a Sydney-based customer installer to roll out a new 24-hour protection service for users “who are in fear” of their new technology and want immediate assistance if anything goes wrong.

Len Wallis of Len Wallis Audio in Sydney is now providing a new 24-hour service that allows his technical staff to access a customer’s devices from anywhere in the world.

A long time pioneer in the custom install industry, Wallis said “We are now designing and installing some fairly complex technology into homes. Not only is this technology continually evolving with the addition of digital radio, video and audio streaming and 3D TV but the existing technology is also being continually updated via new firmware releases. We can now service all this gear online if we have done the custom install,” he said.

“Even simple things like new channels being launched for a digital electronic program guide or Foxtel can throw a client’s control system into disarray. By having immediate access to this technology we can remotely ensure that an upgrade goes down smoothly,” he added.

Wallis added, “traditionally the client had two choices. They can ignore the changes and live with the consequences (which appears to be the case much of the time), or have us manage the devices remotely”.

 

The new Len Wallis, Smart Protection Plan program which being headed by Rob McCaffery, allows customers to access the following:

· A five-year parts and labour warranty for all A/V and control components supplied and installed by Len Wallis Audio. This is being underwritten by United Electrical
· Two free system health checks a year, including:
o Checking the operation of the system.
o Performing all necessary maintenance.
o Replacing infra-red emitters and connectors if required.
o Installing any firmware upgrades provided by the manufacturer.
o Additional system instruction if necessary.
· Priority Service, including:
o Next working day response within the Sydney Metropolitan area.
o Free collection and re-installation of any defective items covered under this warranty.
o Provision of loan equipment where available and practical.

The cost to the client of this plan is 5% of the total system cost, for the first year, and then 3.5% of the system cost per year for the following four years (maximum of five years.)
