Following Google’s US$1.1 billion acquisition of half their R&D smartphone team, recent leaks reveal HTC is working on an entry-level smartphone with an 18:9 aspect ratio.
Notable tech leaker, Evan Blass, has revealed HTC is developing a 5.5-inch budget smartphone, codenamed ‘Breeze’.
According to Blass, the forthcoming device will incorporate 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, a MediaTek chipset and 2,730mAh battery.
‘Breeze’ will feature a 13MP main camera setup, with a 5MP selfie camera.
The device will reportedly be priced rather competitively, which could see HTC extending in the budget space following their recent sale to Google.
HTC is scheduled to make an announcement at Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. Whether or not ‘Breeze’ will make an appearance, is yet to be confirmed.
HTC’s got an upcoming 5.5″ phone, Breeze (second time as HTC codename), that’s mostly notable for pushing full screen, 18:9 aspect ratio down to entry level. Therefore specs are nothing special (Mediatek SoC, 2/16GB, 13/5MP, 2730mAh, etc), and it should be priced to reflect that.
