Electronics are also set to be in many Christmas stockings this year as are ever reliable books and gift vouchers.
That’s according to ARA Director, Russell Zimmerman, who revealed books were near the top of the list, according to a consumer survey recently carried out by the body.
Credits also featured highly, with 73% planning to give gift vouchers or money.
Electronic gifts were also popular among teens, with 25% of those quizzed planning on buying iPods, iPhones, iPads and iTunes vouchers for adolescents.
iPads and other electronics were high on the list for men this Christmas but dads tend to have the worst luck at this time of year with only two percent of respondents saying they would spend the most amount on their dads going for gifts like alcohol, chocolates, clothes and tools, notes Zimmerman.
Mums can expect gifts with perfume, jewellery and cosmetics.
Boys will find presents such as Lego and bikes (boys) and toys, and dolls and clothes were popular for girls.
For those splashing out and buying big items over $2000, almost half of respondents said a holiday was on the cards.
