JBL’s new Studio One 190 floorstanding speakers featuring the new Weave design. |
The company has just released its new Studio One series of loudspeakers in Australia, with a new design language called the Weave which makes a statement in both design and performance.
The new collection bears all the hallmarks of JBL products – dynamic range, tonal accuracy and spatial transparency, and are sold as separates so you can personalise the ideal cinematic home theatre or music experience.
The collection includes the JBL Studio 190 and Studio 180 floorstanding loudspeakers, the Studio 130 bookshelf loudspeaker, the JBL Studio 120c centre-channel loudspeaker, the JBL Studio 140P, 150 Watt subwoofer and 150P, 300 Watt subwoofer.
Geoff Matthews, managing director at Convoy International, which distributes the range in Australia, said: “As you’d expect from a brand like JBL, with a history in building professional speakers for movie theatres, the Studio One Series offers unrivalled cinematic performance. It’s fantastic to take that stored engineering experience and unveil a series of speakers for your home with a sensational new look.”
The Studio 190 is a three-and-a-half-way floorstanding loudspeaker featuring dual 165mm low frequency and 100mm midrange PolyPlas drivers, and CMMD(R) Lite high frequency domes with proprietary Bi-Radial(R) waveguides.
The Studio 180 is designed in a similar vertical tower package and is a three-way floorstanding speaker with one 165mm PolyPlas cone, and identical mid and HF elements to the larger 190.
If you’re looking to pack some big sound without the big box, check out the Studio 130 bookshelf loudspeaker. Featuring 100mm low-frequency transducers and 25mm high-frequency transducers, these are aimed for use in a compact Studio One Series home theatre system, or as a captivating music-only system on their own.

The Studio 120c renders the dialogue, music and effects of even the most challenging movie soundtracks with confidence and style. The two-and-a-half-way dual centre channel features two magnetically shielded 100mm PolyPlas cones and a 25mm CMMD Lite dome, magnetically shielded, in a Bi-Radial constant directivity waveguide.
Two powerful subwoofers complete the line up. The 300W JBL Studio 150P houses a 250mm, down-firing, long-throw transducer in a trapezoidal bass-reflex enclosure. Its more compact sister model, the 150W Studio 140P, shares many of the 150P’s features with a 200mm long-throw driver.
Both subwoofers display a high-efficiency design to deliver more power with less heat, high-output performance. They will connect to virtually any A/V receiver, both the Studio 140P and Studio 150P and add essential bass response to any multichannel system, heightening the impact of your home movie experience.
