The iPhone 8 is tipped to have the most radical redesign of Apple’s smartphone range to date but is expected to have plusses and minuses due to its huge size and likely high price.
Japan’s Nikkei newspaper has reported that Apple will launch three configurations of iPhone in 2017. Two will be updates on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, it says, but the star is likely to be the iPhone 8 with an OLED display measuring a massive 5.8-inches.
It is expected to be the largest display of any iPhone ever made, lso significantly larger than any current mass-market smartphone (though some observers say the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus should change that).
A recent report from KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo claims that Apple’s flagship model will cost in excess of US$1000 (A$1399).
In Australia, the current top iPhone 7 model has a 5.5in. display and sells for a recommended A$1269.
