Forget TVs LG to go big in the kitchen.
At the launch of its side by Side Door-in Door fridge yesterday, LG Australia revealed it is planning to go big on kitchen appliances in 2013.
National sales manager Murray Richardson revealed LG’s big plans for the kitchen this year, and is planning to go strong on cooking appliances, washing machines and laundry.
LG also said it is now a “leader” in the French Door-in-Door refrigeration category after the successful launch of its premium 907 litre model last year, which is a big seller.
It has now drafted in celebrity chef Matt Moran to be LG’s brand ambassador in Oz.
At CES in January, the giant unveiled Smart Home technologies – including Appliances connected to the web, smart refrigerator with LCD screen, Smart Washing Machine with Wi-Fi washing machine that can be controlled from a TV and smartphone operated vacuum.
Its not the only one – Panasonic too has increased its presence in the appliance market in the past 12 months in Australia, and globally, and was one of the only growth sectors in the consumer technology market last year and small appliances were also big sellers, according to recent GFK data.
We’re hoping to catch up with LG to find out more in the coming weeks.
