Marantz has announced AirPlay availability on four of its network-enabled AV components for streaming music from Apple iTunes libraries, iPads, iPods and iPhones.Marantz owners are charged $60 for the downloadable firmware upgrade that allows their receivers and amplifiers to stream audio around home networks via Wi-Fi or cabled Ethernet connections.
The AirPlay-enabled products include the SR7005 AV Receiver, the AV7005 AV Preamplifier, the NA7004 Network Audio Player and the CR603 Networked CD Receiver.
Marantz was one of the first AirPlay certified companies with Apple when it released AirPlay compatibility with its Melody Media Receiver late last year, just behind a release from Denon (owned by the same parent company, D&M Holdings Inc.).
D&M Holdings has an app out on the iTunes Store, ‘Wizz App’, which functions as a remote control for the previously mentioned receivers.
AirPlay recently got an update with the release of the iPad’s software update to version 4.3, including new features like video playback through the Photos app and slideshows from the Photos app over Apple TV.
