Jamo is a Danish Hi Fi brand that has been sold in Australia for more than 30 years, this week the Company that is now owned by US Company Klipsch launched an impressive new speaker line up that sounds as good as it looks.
What’s noticeable about the new Jamo range is the evolution of the design, instead of a new shape or an out there design which some Hi Fi Companies have resorted to get attention, Jamo has simply refined the design and instead of a square boxed speaker which are often cheaper to make, Jamo has developed a speaker that is curved stylish and one that will fit comfortably in a modern Australian home.
The new design is the work of well-known British loudspeaker designer Kieron whose primary objective is to deliver beautiful exteriors.
The marriage of European stylish and Danish Hi Fi fidelity has paid off with the new speaker range that range in pricing from $1,700 to $6,500 for a pair of floor standing towers, $750 to $2,800 for a pair of bookshelf speakers, $900 to $2,000 for a pair of surrounds and $600 to $1,600 for a centre channel speaker.
Making up the new range are ten passive home theatre speakers that incorporate high-performance drivers that are acoustically tuned to provide open, transparent playback of movies and music.
This was very noticeable when I listened to a drum solo and both a male (Tony Bennett) and a female soloist.
The new Concert Series includes three floor standing towers (C 109, C 97 and C 95), three bookshelf models (C 103, C 93 and C 91), two centre channels (C 10 CEN and C 9 CEN), and two surrounds (C 10 SUR and C 9 SUR).
The simple lines and natural textures allow each speaker to blend easily into almost any space.
Hand-polished high-gloss finishes, satin painted MDF baffles and polished chrome logos, along with satin aluminium centre plugs and stabiliser feet are all part of the new look.
New and improved technologies that equip the new Jamo Concert loudspeakers include:
. Evolved Hybrid Composition Conical Cones (HCCC) that provide the stiffness and strength of aluminium or titanium with the transient response and smoothness of wood fibre that self-damps resonance at high frequencies for smooth midrange performance.
. All-new Long Displacement Surround (LDS) design for woofers and midrange drivers that deliver improved low-frequency response that leads to a more natural, open sound.
. Improved Anti-Diffraction WaveGuide (ADW) technology that produces more immersive and impactful listening outside of the sweet spot.
. Redesigned silk dome tweeter diaphragms with extra-large surround that lower distortion and enable greater high-frequency extension.
