If you are planning to buy a Samsung 3D TV, then it is logical to purchase the BD-C6900 as it is the first Blu-ray player in the market that can play 3D discs.

The BD-C6900 is priced just right at $599. It sports a glossy finish but is quite a fingerprint magnet. All the connections are located at the back of the device and include an Optical Out, Ethernet, HDMI out (1.4), AV out, Component out, and 7.1Ch Analog Audio Out.
It could have been better if Samsung included two HDMI outputs so that the Blu-ray can be connected to an older receiver. Since this is not the case, a user would have to purchase a new receiver or use the analog output to enjoy 7.1 channel sound.
It took less than 15 seconds to load up a Blu-ray disc, which is good as previous Samsung players took longer. If there is no disc loaded, the C6900 allows a user to listen to music, watch movies, look at photos, and even provides access to various Internet services (like YouTube, Picasa, Twitter) using its Internet@TV function.
Content streaming is also available, allowing us to access data stored on our DLNA devices. The USB port found at the front of the device can be used to show photos, videos, and playback music on a device.

As it was just launched three weeks ago, users will find it hard to utilise the 3D functions of the player. Monsters vs. Aliens is the first 3D Blu-ray disc available and there will be a lack of content until companies start pushing movies designed for 3D TVs. Playing Monsters vs. Aliens in 3D was very enjoyable – we found times when we got immersed in the scene, times when we felt like debris were really flying towards us, as well as times when we saw depth.
The colours reproduced by the player were vivid, with objects looking sharp as ever. The player also comes with a Screen Fit feature that is able to convert 21:9 aspect ratio movies to 16:9 aspect to eliminate the black bars found the movie.
The Samsung BD-C6900 has all the technology that makes it a good Blu-ray player to have at home. The only problem is that it needs more than just Monsters vs, Aliens to make it a worthwhile purchase. If you bought a Samsung 3D TV, then we recommend you to purchase it to complete your 3D bundle. Otherwise, you can always wait until more 3D movies come out.
