Samsung has sought to challenge Apple’s iPad in today’s connected home, following the global launch of its new ‘Tab S5e’, boasting an AMOLED screen, 14.5 hour battery life and in-built Bixby 2.0.
The tablet is positioned as the “ideal hub” to control smart home devices – ‘Quick Command’ technology allows users to combine several actions under one voice command e.g. turn on the TV and smart lights simultaneously.
Whilst international release is slated for Q2Y19, Samsung has confirmed the device will also launch locally, with pricing and availability to be confirmed.
With call and message continuity, users can pick up calls or reply to a message from their tablet – even when your phone is out of reach, or on a different Wi-Fi network.
The tablet is also compatible with Samsung’s DeX, which provides a PC-like environment when connected to a supported keyboard.
Marketed as a “top tier” device, the 10.5-inch tablet boasts a sleek design and powerful hardware, at new more affordable price point.
“For users who want intelligence that keeps them connected so they can get more done—as well as a big, beautiful screen for a rich, premium entertainment experience—the Tab S5e delivers,” asserts DJ Koh, President and CEO of IT & Mobile Communications Division, Samsung Electronics.
Providing enhanced portability, the device features a sleek metal body, and weighs only 400g.
Claimed to be Samsung’s first tablet to feature Bixby 2.0, the device is also made for immersive entertainment, courtesy of a Super AMOLED display, 16:10 screen ratio and no visible home key.
With Edge to Edge display and slimmed bezels, the tablet offers an 81.8% screen-to-body ratio.
With Quad speakers, the tablet incorporates ‘auto rotate stereo technology’ pledging powerful, loud audio which adapts to how you’re holding the tablet (portrait/landscape).
The tablet pledges immersive 3D sound and professional balanced audio, with Dolby Atmos integration and sound by AKG.
