Two senior execs laid off, as new COO shakes up Pay TV giantRebecca Heap, Foxtels Director of Content & Partnerships and Kym Niblock General Manager – Emerging Platforms covering IPTV, OTT and TV Anywhere, have both been made redundant reports Mumbrella.
Heap, a former Austar employee, which merged with Foxtel in 2012, worked at the Pay TV giant since the takeover. Niblock is a former MD of BBC.com and also worked at British Sky Broadcasting.
The move is part of Foxtel’s new Chief Operating Officer Rohan Lund’s plan to overhaul the company.

Media veteran Lund, a former COO at Seven West Media and CEO of Yahoo!7 was hired last year to strengthen Foxtel’s innovation and partnerships.
There have been several staff laid off.
“Foxtel has decided to restructure some of its functions and that as a result there have been a small number of redundancies one of which was Rebecca Heap. We are sad to lose her and she goes with our every best wish,” the company confirmed.
The move is interesting since emerging platforms and IPTV are hot areas for Foxtel right now, which have enjoyed growth on the back of a recent expansion of Internet TV services to tablets and smartphones.
Some of Heap’s responsibilities were transferred to Lund last week, making position untenable, according to the report.
It is not known what is to become of Niblock’s role. A Foxtel spokesperson told ChannelNews it will make an announcement on the restructure in near the future.
Both employees left on good terms, and “we wish Kym and Rebecca all the best in the future,” the spokesperson added.
