BEST STREAMING BOX: CHROMECAST WITH GOOGLE TV
By: Jake Nelson
Delivering 4K streaming and smart tech at an astonishing price point, the latest iteration is the device Google’s Chromecast has always wanted to be.
It takes the reliable old Chromecast functionality that lets you send media from your phone or browser straight to your TV, and adds a full-featured smart TV interface complete with app store, plus a remote (a long time coming) with Google Assistant built in.
While the rival Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite is a fine device (and only $59, compared to the $99 for the Chromecast), it doesn’t have 4K streaming – or, of course, the classic Chromecast technology. And while the Fire TV Stick Lite has Alexa built in, Amazon’s voice assistant just doesn’t have the same reach or connectivity that Google Assistant has here in Australia. That’s why, for our money, the Chromecast with Google TV is the streaming device to buy.
