Spotify Premium subscribers are irate for the over promotion of Canadian rapper Drake’s new album asking for refunds stating it was basically advertising.
Last Friday, Drake’s album was released and had the first artist ‘take-over’ meaning on the majority of popular playlists Drake’s image was the cover art. The steaming service dubbed it ‘ScorpionSZN’ after the new albums moniker.
One Reddit user, posted their frustration over the site’s promotion saying they messaged Spotify asking for a refund since ‘this is advertising and I pay for premium with no ads’, to which he got a refund for their last payment.
Other users were met with no such luck and threatened to cancel their subscriptions due to the promotion.

On the Australian Spotify site you can see several playlists like ‘Hot Hits Australia’ and ‘Urban Flavour’ being promoted with Drake as the cover.
According to Billboard, the promotion was a ‘quirky celebration’ which helped him to break a the one-week US streaming record in three days.
A Spotify spokesperson told Billboard the complaints have been minimal with no refund policy been put in place.
