Large scale electronic equipment was found on the Interville Technology premises, and employees were hired to trawl the internet to find suitable files for download, according to the report.
The raid follows an investigation from the anti-piracy sectors of the Australian film and music industries, Music Industry Piracy Investigations (MIPI) and the Australian Federation Against Copyright Theft (AFACT), said SMH.
It is understood that popular music and new release movies which were made available for customers to upload onto portable hard drives were found on the premises.
Reports indicate that if convicted the owners of Interville Technology could cop a hefty penalty, given the piracy operation in the store is considered to be of quite a large scale.
