Logitech subsidiary Ultimate Ears are going from strength to strength with their latest wireless speaker, the WONDERBOOM.
A spherical 360-degree speaker approximately half the size of the UE BOOM. It’s capable of producing audio of up to 86 decibels and connect to sources over Bluetooth up to 30 meters away.
As with previous UE wireless speakers, the pause, play and volume buttons are all built into the design of the speaker. In terms of battery life, UE say a full charge will net you 10 hours of usage at medium or normal volume settings.
It wears the same fabric-like custom skin as previous UE speakers, reendering the speaker both dust and waterproof (it’s rated IP7X for submersion for up to one meter). Again, like previous UE speakers, it can be easily paired with another WONDERBOOM speaker using a simple and intuitive process that really is as simple as holding down a button.
Essentially, the WONDERBOOM brings the same solid wireless audio experience that’s won the brand plenty of fans together with a new form factor that makes it easier than ever to fit into your life.
Interestingly, when asked about why UE’s carefree branding doesn’t play off its widespread pedigree within the music industry, UE’s John Paterson says that “when we first launched we tried to make that a big part of the story but thee truth was that no-one cared.”
Not that that’s been a barrier to success for the brand.
Paterson says that the UE Boom has been the number #1 wireless speaker in sales volume since 2013 and that the company are “always trying to innovate and see what’s next.”
The UE WONDERBOOM will be available through JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and Apple retail stores from early April at a pricepoint of $129.
