Just when the market has got use to HD TV a Japanese research lab has shown Ultra HD running on a plasma TV which delivers a 7680 X 4320 pixel image.
HD TV which which is currently 1920 X 1080 will become old hat according to Japanese researchers at the NHK, Nippon H Science and Technical Research Laboratories.
Researchers claim that they are getting closer to being able to deliver a 0.3mm pixel pitch display which is currently the holy grail in future TV display for the home.
Pixel pitch is a measure of the distance between pixels, currently the average is 0.9mm however a pixel pitch of 0.33mm is not too far away for a 100″ TV.
