Rumours that JB Hi-Fi will soon stock Xiaomi and Vivo phones in its stores have further strengthened by leaked images that look to be the retailer’s next catalogue.
A user on deals forum OzBargain first claimed over the weekend the retailer would be stocking the phones, saying the next catalogue will feature phones from the two Chinese companies.
They returned to the site yesterday afternoon with an image of what looks to be the next JB Hi-Fi catalogue, featuring two Vivo phones and three Xiaomis.
The Vivo Y17 ($369) and S1 ($449) are joined by Xiaomi’s Mi A3 ($499), Mi9T ($699), and Mi Mix 3 5G ($1399), which is currently the cheapest 5G device for sale in Australia.
Xiaomi first entered the Australian market with its online store earlier this year, but Vivo has no current presence in the retail channel.
Both brands have been sold in Australia through grey importers for a number of years.
The phones sold at JB Hi-Fi appear to be more expensive than their grey import counterparts but it remains to be seen whether consumers will be tempted to pay extra to get a warranty and purchase their device from an established and trusted retail brand.
