It’s Faaaast: And, of course, it 4G
Huawei MediaPad 10 Link 4G, “the fastest tablet in Australia” is to be sold exclusively at Vodafone.
It is the first tablet in Australia with Cat 4 technology, that maximises Voda’s superfast 4G network, which it claims is the fastest 4G network in Oz, built on 2 x 20MHz of contiguous spectrum.
The potent mix of spectrum and Cat 4 technology found on Huawei MediaPad 10, means the 10″ tab is capable of theoretical speeds of “up to” 150Mbps in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide, based on tests.

This is over three times faster than an average ADSL broadband connection, meaning the Android tab can download a movie in less than one minute.
Not bad, but go outside the capital cities and speeds will not be so mighty. It also runs 2G and 3G. Most 4G tablets have ‘Cat 3’ technology, with downloads up to 100Mbps in 20MHz areas.
The 10.1″ Huawei tablet has IPS LCD display, powerful quad Core 1.5Ghz processor and runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, and
1080p Full HD video playback.
It also delivers the sounds with Dolby Digital Plus sound, 3MP digital zoom rear camera and high capacity 6400mAh battery, so handy for work.
Voda’s souped up mobile internet service was launched last month, playing catch up to rivals Optus and Telstra.
“Not only do we have the fastest 4G data speeds available in Sydney and Melbourne, we are now also proud to exclusively offer the fastest tablet in Australia,” said Katie Turkal, General Manager of Devices at Vodafone.
The telco are set to make a major announcement tomorrow, which may have something to do with flying (we’ll reveal more in the am).
So how much for speed?
