The concept store is to revealed tomorrow
Dick Smith’s brand new ‘Sydney Central’ store is to be unveiled to media tomorrow. It will open to the public the following day, Thursday 01 August.
The new concept store is located at Ground Floor, Westfield, Sydney underneath Myer. No word on the size of the store, however.
But the new store contains “unique elements” a spokesperson told CN, declining to elaborate further, saying all will be revealed tomorrow.
Earlier this month, the retailer pledged to make “major changes to customers’ retail experience.” The previously tipped Samsung store-in-store experience could be part of this fresh retail approach.
Dick Smith CEO, Nick Abboud now “heads into independent era” making his first public appearance since the final buyout of the retailer from Woolworths, by Anchorage Capital, this month.
Abboud will speak publicly about Dick Smith’s business strategy, and give insight into its future vision. Abboud is also set to reveal Dick’s “exciting” new business initiatives, according to the media invite. Media will also be treated to a walkaround of the store.
The well known electronics retailer already has stores in Sydney CBD, including a large shop at Sydney George St and Broadway.
It has a total of 323 outlets nationally, but plans to increase its footprint throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Dick Smith has certainly upped the ante of late, fast becoming a formidable player in the electronics retail scene, changing its product mix significantly.
Since the takeover by Anchorage Capital last year, it has increased operational efficiency, profit margins and growth.
“Based on Dick Smith’s performance over the last six months we are confident the business will continue to experience positive growth and performance as a major player in the Australian consumer electronics industry,” says Abboud.
