Look out Sony, LG: Chinese TV maker joins the 4K race, by releasing Ultra HD TV for just $5K
AS tipped by Channel News, TCL has unveiled a 65-inch LED 4K Ultra High Definition TV at a bargain price of $4999, which raises the gauntlet to the likes of Samsung, Sony, LG whose asking prices for Ultra HD TV is anything between $10-$20K.
This 4K price crash now means Ultra HD TV is now not much more than a large LCD LED TV.
The 65″ 4K TV (E5691) will be on sale from mid-September, TCL confirmed today.
Flagged as The Next Big Thing, Ultra High Definition TV, known as “4K” delivers picture resolution four times that of a full high definition set, or 4096 x 2160 resolution.
The $5,000 4K Smart TV also has 3D, USB Personal Video Recorder (PVR), SBS on Demand, SMH.TV, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Vimeo and is Skype-ready. It also upscales HD content – TV shows, movies (Blu-rays & DVDs) to stunning 4K picture quality.
The 65-incher also has new ‘Nscreen’, that lets you wirelessly share media from mobiles, tabletss directly to the TV via an app.

TCL, one the world’s biggest TV manufacturers, also plans to release a slew of bargain LED HD TVs, ranging from 32-65 inches, the E5510 and F3500 Series
TCL E5510 and F3500 series include specs like Full HD 1080p, edge-lit LED HD Smart TV, start at $549 for non 3D model and 55-inch for just $1599.
They also have 3D and the same SBS, Internet content as 4K model, and boast ultra-thin bezel and a modern gun metal grey finish.
The E5510 will be available in 32 (not 3D, $549), 40 ($899), 46 ($1199), 50 ($1399) and 55-inch ($1599) The 55-inch and 65-inch F3500 will cost $1399 and $2699 respectively.

The new Australian range comes off the back of unprecedented growth for TCL here over the last 12 months as well as significant growth in China, where it is the biggest TV maker.
TCL says global sales of LCDs were up 25% in the first five months of 2013 hitting 7 million, compared to a year ago.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of TCL Multimedia, Mr. Hao Yi, said,” We will increase our sales volume and market share by enhancing both the sales channels and brand development.”
