The latest, state-of-the-art Optus 10 satellite has safely lifted off from the Guiana Space Centre in Kourou, French Guiana, and has entered the correct orbit, expanding Optus’ satellite fleet and providing an in-orbit redundancy capability.
Optus isn’t just shaking up its executive management team today as we reported this morning, but has also shaken the ground in French Guiana and is shaking up space with its newest satellite launch.
Dubbed the Optus 10, the launch is the latest since Optus first launched a satellite into space nearly 29 years ago.
As the only local compete to own and operate satellites, Optus says it is the leading provider of satellite services across Australia and New Zealand.

Rob Parcell, Optus Wholesale and Satellite MD said: “This morning we witnessed the successful launch of Optus’ newest satellite, Optus 10. This represents the next advance into space by Australians and is an exciting milestone for Optus.

Optus has the largest fleet of geostationary satellites in the region, servicing Australia, New Zealand and the McMurdo Sound in the Antarctic.
