Apple is tipped to unveil a 31.6-inch 6K display monitor at WWDC2019, coupled with reports it’s investing in mini LED technology. The innovations seek to combat sluggish iPhone sales, following a recent holiday downgrade.
As per 9to5Mac, renowned Apple commentator, Ming-Chi Kuo, believes the Californian giant will incorporate mini LED within new monitors, iPads and a new Macbook.
Kuo expects the 31.6-inch 6K monitor to launch in Q2 – Q3 of this year, with the new iPads and MacBooks forecast for 2020 – 2021.
Mini LED tech is tipped to offer thinner panels and be more energy efficient.
The display tech is also said to deliver high contrast ratios, HDR, a rich wide colour gamut and localised dimming functionality – plus avoid screen burn-in as though OLED.
The 6K monitor is tipped to use a mini-LED backlight, whilst new MacBooks and iPads will feature true end-to-end mini LED screens.
Commentators claim the new MacBook may even be a revamped MacBook Pro.
Apple’s mini LED tech is said to be different than micro LED embraced by the likes of Samsung Display. As per 9to5Mac the Californian giant is actively researching micro LED, with the view of mass production around 2023.
