Apple has killed off its Airport wireless router as they desperately search for their next big thing.
Facing falling iPhone, iPad and MacBook sales Apple has moved employees working on the product category to other areas, according to Bloomberg’s Marc Gurman.
Apple has not updated the product, which comes in three versions, since 2013.
The firm’s store currently still shows three versions of the Airport router.
The Airport is Apple’s own brand of router, which acts as access point to connect wireless devices. The range consists of the AirPort Express, AirPort Extreme, and AirPort Time capsule.
The Time capsule doubles as a backup storage hard drive for Mac computers, and costs up to $399 depending on capacity.
Earlier this year Apple also stopped making its own external monitors, announcing a deal to sell high-resolution screens for professional users with LG instead.
The move comes as Google prepares to launch its new wireless router, called Google Wi-Fi.
It uses a wireless technology called mesh networks to spread Wi-Fi internet signals more evenly around homes.
