Look out Australia: 80″ LCD is coming to a living room near you.
Meet the biggest consumer TV in OZ – Sharp’s new 80-inch 3D Quattron LCD TV (LC-80LE940X) – available from the end of the month.
And ‘bigger is better’ says its Japanese maker who has kitted out the monster TV with Aquomotion Pro Technology and Yamaha’s LSI Audio Engine to “bring the cinematic experience home,” says Sharp Marketing Manager, Mark Beard.

The 80″ television features 4th Generation Quattron with High Speed LCD a full LED backlight for excellent colour contrast, aluminium frame bezel.
It also boasts a dual core processor for faster application speeds, USB Media Playback for hooking up additional content and USB Timeshift Plus function to pause, replay and record live programming.
The new 80-inch model is more than just a television, it combines all the AV needs of the home, says Sharp. Without a stand, the 80″ TV has dimensions (in mm) of 1867X1114X99 and is 63mm at its thinnest part, and weighs 53kg.
With the stand, which comes included, the Sharp set weighs 57kg.
As for those concerned about whether they have enough space to fit an 80″ screen – LCDs of this size have an ideal viewing distance of three meters – meaning you don’t need a huge living area to enjoy the big screen.
However, big ain’t cheap.
The Sharp 80″ has a RRP $10,999.00 and includes a pair of 3D glasses and a wireless dongle. It will be available in all major electrical retail outlets at the end of August.
