Several months out from the Galaxy S8’s release window, Samsung is finally rolling out their voice-assistant Bixby to the US.
“Our goal with Bixby is to make it easier to use our phones, creating the best possible user experience for our customers. That’s why we created Bixby – an intuitive new way to do more things with your phone,” says Injong Rhee, Executive Vice President, Head of R&D, Software and Services of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.
The feature will be installed and enabled on Galaxy S8 and S8+ handsets running on the AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon and U.S. Cellular networks from today.
According to Samsung, testing out the feature will be as simple as pushing the dedicated Bixby button on the device or saying “Hey Bixby.”
Although early feedback to the voice assistant was mixed, reports now say that the voice assistant is much more adept at understanding natural language expressions and contextual commands from within various applications.
Samsung say that the feature will be fully integrated across several core Samsung apps at launch, with the company to continuously expand to support additional languages, features, third-party apps and devices over time.
No word yet on when the feature will become available for Australian customers.
