Bowers & Wilkins has announced the latest additions to its PX headphone range with four new wireless variants coming to Australia in November.
The PX7 is priced at $599.95 RRP and will be available in Space Grey and Silver, with the PX5 costing $469.95 RRP and available in Space Grey and Blue.
The P13 and P14 will be available in Gold, Space Grey and Blue for a price of $299.95 RRP and $439.95 RRP respectively.
The defining feature for B&W’s lineup of new headphones is the use of the updated aptX Adaptive audio codec, which B&W claim delivers better sound in realtime when compared with previous versions of the codec.
This new technology has been made possible by Qualcomm, who partnered with B&W to create the new QCC5100 series Bluetooth audio devices that can produce 24bit audio at 48kHz.
Senior Vice President and GM of the Headphone Business Unit, Tim Johnston said the combination between the two technologies ‘creates the most realistic, high-fidelity soundstage of any headphone on the market, reproducing sound just as it was created in the studio’.
The P13 Wireless In-Ear Headphones boasts eight hours of audio playback even with the bespoke hybrid dual drivers powered by individual amplifiers built into the earbuds.
With fast-charging included, B&W claim two hours of playback is achievable from a 15-minute charge via the USB-C port.
The P14 Wireless In-Ear Headphones adds active noise cancelling and an extra two hours of audio playback, with fast charging as well.
An included magnetic earpiece clip snaps the two earbuds together when removed which automatically pauses the music; with playback restarting once they are separated again.
The PX5 Wireless On-Ear Headphones also includes the active noise cancelling of the P14 with the addition of six integrated microphones that continuously monitor ambient noise to make adjustments to audio playback on the go.
B&W claims the headphones will last for up to 25 hours, or three hours after a 15-minute fast charge.
Its custom-designed 35mm drivers designed by the engineers behind the 800 Diamond Series speakers ‘give you music in all its glory’.
The flagship PX7 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones comes with 30 hours of audio playback with active noise cancelling, ear cups that physically block outside noise as well as proximity sensors that will automatically pause music when the headphones are taken off.
The PX7 are fitted with 43 mm drivers, which are the largest that B&W have in their headphone collection.
“We’ve worked extremely hard to create a line of headphones that deliver music the way the artists intended it to be heard,” said Mr Johnston.
