Denon has released an HS2 iteration of its Heos HomeCinema soundbar system. The 2.1 soundbar and subwoofer package is fully compatible with the brand’s existing Heos wireless multiroom range.
The new HS2 model adds 4K UHD HDMI and support for high-resolution audio, as well as AirPlay and Bluetooth connectivity. The new model also has a slimmer design, with metal feet, plus a built-in power supply, which should make for a neater install. Built-in keyholes are provided for for wall mounting. Additional connections include optical and coaxial digital audio inputs, a 3.5mm Aux input and USB reader.
A firmware update planned for this summer will enable Amazon Alexa voice control. Users need only enable the Heos Home Entertainment skill in the Alexa app. The Amazon Alexa feature becomes available in the next couple of months via a firmware update.
The HEOS HomeCinema HS2 features biamplified mid-woofers and tweeters, aided by advanced DSP processing. The soundbar sports dual 50 x 127mm drivers that handle upper bass and midrange audio; a pair of 20mm dome tweeters handle higher frequencies.
High-Res playback support covers FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and DSD.
