With only 10 more sleeps until the Sydney Royal Easter Show at Sydney’s Olympic Park, the event has got its own iPhone app, which includes a live schedule and map information.
The show, which attracts millions of visitors to Sydney’s Olympic Park and has been celebrating the best in Australia since 1823, is demonstrating its ability to keep up with the times with its first official mobile application for the iPhone.
The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, which organises the event, is no stranger to new technology, however, with a presence on both Facebook and Twitter.
The new iPhone app has a daily timetable of events and activities, an itinerary planner and the ability to create a list of favourite showbags and carnival rides, as well as interactive maps of the site.
A competition to win a gold carnival wrist band to ride the Easter Show carnival for a day, free of charge, is also included.
The app costs $2.49 from the iTunes App Store and includes ads, which makes it a nice little revenue earner for the organiser.
Developed by C2 Media, it also includes the abiltiy to search the program by entertainment, animals or competitions and bookmark events.
The 2011 Sydney Royal Easter Show runs from April 14 to 27 at Sydney Olympic Park.
