After the international success of last year’s Ticwatch 2 on Kickstarter, Mobvoi are returning to the crowdfunding platform in order to raise money for the new Ticwatch S & E.
The company, which made up of ex-Google staff and partially-funded by Alphabet, are positioning the new ultra-affordable smartwatch as the device that does justice to the possibilities of the Android Wear 2.0 update that rolled out earlier this year.
They say that “Besides managing calls and messages, Ticwatch S (Sport) and E (Express) empower your active lifestyle with the convenience of Google Assistant, fitness apps like Google Fit, and the powerful ecosystem of Google Play.”
“The possibilities are endless with your Ticwatch S & E.”
The big difference between what’s on offer here and what was offered last year is the focus on the sports and fitness market.
The Ticwatch S (or Ticwatch Sport) features a built-in GPS antenna and breathable band design.
Meanwhile, the Ticwatch E (or Ticwatch Express) features an interchangeable watch band translucent casing and is available in three colours.
Both come IP67-rated against water and dust damage and come equipped to deliver up to 48 hours of battery life on a single charge.
Finally, Mobvoi are sweetening the deal this time around by launching an accompanying pair of wireless earphones called the TicPods.
According to them, the”Ticpods pair with the Ticwatch seamlessly. You can enjoy music on the go with lightweight, comfortable earbuds and unparalleled sound performance.”
Prices for the Ticwatch S & E start at $119 US (plus shipping) – which is significantly lower than most smartwatches will run you.
