With home printing falling dangerously out of style, HP have hit upon a solution that might appease those casual home printer, while locking them into a monthly subscription service.
HP Instant Ink is a subscription service in which you pay $1.99 monthly for roughly 15 pages, $5.99 for 50 pages, $9.99 for 100 pages, $19.99 for 300 pages, and $39.99 for 700 pages.
The company will monitor your ink usage, and send you out a refill when it appears you are running low.
Regardless of which tier you happen to choose, you can either re-order, or roll over your quota if you don’t quite hit your 700 pages a month.
They will also send you recycling satchels to offset the obvious waste in this scheme.
