With Google unveiling its Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system, HTC has confirmed it will have updates available for its HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) smartphones within 90 days of receiving the final software from Google.Lollipop will run on Google’s upcoming Nexus 6, Nexus 9 and Nexus Player releases, and in the coming weeks will also be available on its Nexus 4, 5, 7, 10 and Google Play edition devices.
HTC is planning to not be too far behind.
As part of its HTC Advantage program, HTC has stated it is committed to updating its flagship HTC One family “as fast as possible”.
“We will begin rolling out updates to the HTC One (M8) and HTC One (M7) worldwide within 90 days of receiving final software from Google, followed shortly thereafter by other One family members and select devices,” HTC has advised.
With the details of Lollipop having now been released, HTC has been fielding queries via Twitter, confirming a number of times that the 90-day schedule is in place for the One (M8) and One (M7).
With the rollout dependent on when it receives the software, HTC has yet to make any official announcement as to a specific date.
